Apparently, I’m the first female presenter here on Oldies Online and so excited to invite you to listen to The Solid Gold Juke Box every Tuesday evening from 6.00pm till 8.00pm.
Music from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Music that formed the soundtrack to our lives. Well it did for me. My mum always had the radio on so I grew up listening to some of her favourites like Nat King Cole, Doris Day and Kathy Kirkby. I remember at the age of 3 sitting on our front gate and singing the songs I had learned to the bus drivers as they stopped at the terminus.
As a teenager I began to keep a “record” diary after my note book diary was discovered by my mum and read with interest. For every important memory in my life since then I have bought a record to literally “record” that event. Music really IS the soundtrack to my life.
I started out as a presenter in November 2008 with hospital radio and the following year won a Gold Award at the UK National Hospital Broadcasting Association for the UK’s Best Newcomer and then went on to achieve a Silver and 2 Bronzes for Best Female Presenter in consecutive years. (I think they stopped me from entering after that….only joking).
The past is always present on The Solid Gold Juke Box with Anita Rose, the “Cheeky Little Minx” and PS, I’m not that old. Well not really ??
