Hi all.. I'm Joe,
In 1990 I went to work with British Aerospace, but on arrival the government cut spending and the company folded, so I was stranded in Plymouth with no job. I visited the job centre and was told I was over qualified for any job they had on offer there. I worked for a while on building sites as I didn't want to sign on, that's when I began Dj-ing.
As my Day jobs improved, so did my record collection. I can remember collecting records from as far backas when I was at school, and hearing Greg Edwards on the radio.
I originally started playing reggae, and then progressed on to Swing & RnB, and later playing Chicago house & Jungle, & ESPECIALLY 70's & 80's funk, Soul and Rare Grooves. I loved playing out and making new friends etc.. It gave me a real buzz. But I am unable to do it any more, with my disability. I do howeverlook forward to my weekly radio set on Oldies Online. Just keeping my DJing as a hobby, playing from home keeps me in touch with the outside world.
I hope you can join me from time to time on Sundays.. 8pm till 10pm
See you on the airwaves...
Dr Funk aka. Joe Fraser
